MOL Strengthens Partnership with Da Chan Bay Terminal One to Better Accommodate Shippers with a New Japan Service in Shenzhen, China

 
Shenzhen, China 每 28 July, 2009 每 Da Chan Bay Terminal One is all set for serving a new Japan 每 Hong Kong 每 Strait service from MOL, in addition to the latter*s current service calls at the Terminal.  MOL extends this premium Japan service to include Shenzhen as a port of call, rendering the fastest transit time to Tokyo from Shenzhen and Hong Kong in the market.  The two companies have already started a familiarization programme in collaboration for shippers and business associates prior to the arrival of the Japan service*s first vessel call on 20 August, 2009.    
 
Mr. Mitsujiro Akasaka, Director, MOL Liner*s Trade Management, expressed his appreciation towards the Terminal*s high standard of customer-focused services: ※We are excited to continue expanding business in South China by opening our first Japan service in Shenzhen.  Our current Japan 每 Hong Kong 每 Strait service has been very reputable for reliability and punctuality.  We take pride in offering the fastest transit time in the market of only 4 days from Shenzhen/ Hong Kong to Tokyo.  Better still, it is extremely convenient to customers as their shipments will reach them in Tokyo in the early morning of Tuesday when MOL vessels arrive there on Monday.§

MOL*s Japan 每 Hong Kong 每 Strait service provides weekly calls at Da Chan Bay Terminal One every Thursday, deploying three container vessels with an average capacity of 3,500 TEUs each.  The service follows a port rotation of Port Kelang, Singapore, Da Chan Bay Terminal One, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Kobe, Hong Kong, Singapore, Port Kelang.  The shippers using this new service will enjoy very short transit time for their shipments leaving Da Chan Bay Terminal One to reach Tokyo in 4 days, Yokohama in 5 days, Nagoya in 6 days and Kobe in 7 days.

About Da Chan Bay Terminal One
 
Da Chan Bay Terminal One (DCB) is situated in the Western Shenzhen Port area of South China.  It is a new international container terminal serving the Pan-Pearl River Delta cargo catchment areas.  DCB covers an area of 112 hectares with five berths along its quayside of 1,830 metres and 600 metres wide.  
 
Construction of the first two berths was completed in late 2007 and commercial operations started since mid-2008.  Construction for the third berth and the last two berths were completed in late 2008 and early 2009 respectively.   Its quay depth, currently at 15.5 metres, will eventually be dredged to 18 metres, allowing DCB to accommodate the world*s largest existing and planned container vessels.
 
Occupying a strategic location that encompasses well-developed land and waterway access to both the eastern and western sides of the Pearl River Delta (PRD), Da Chan Bay Terminal One provides shipping line customers a distinct opportunity to capture new cargo catchment areas as factories migrate inland and to the west of the PRD.
